Recently I decided it was time for new frames so I checked the frugal glasses guide and went website by website to find the perfect frames. In the end, I chose eyebuydirect and purchased five frames from their site.
DISCLAIMER: Ordering glasses online really isn’t for everyone. If your prescription is too high or nit picky then I would suggest going to an optician/optometrist. My prescription is very low and I like being able to switch out glasses as I please.
SHIPPING: I usually don’t like to complain about how long shipping takes, especially when I make a large order, but man their shipping sucked. I placed my order on 07/05/17 and they arrived on 07/20/17. I spent over $99 so shipping was free but you do not get a tracking number. I could have paid over $30 for them to ship via UPS Express but I wasn’t about to spend that. On the website itself, they tracked my package until it arrived at the post office which was nice but it worried me when it never arrived at my house. I contacted their customer service on 07/19/17 because I was worried about my package and they assured me it was on its way but they’d start working on replacements just in case my glasses were lost. Their “package” was a bunch of cases taped together which slightly worried me because they could easily break but they all arrived in one piece.
EASE OF ORDERING: Ordering the glasses was super simple for me. The website is very appealing and you can input your prescription to one pair and then just apply to the rest if you purchase more than one. Unlike Warby Parker, they don't send trial pairs to you which isn't that important to me because I knew the type of glasses I wanted but if that's something you're looking for try somewhere else.
QUALITY OF GLASSES: You know the saying “you get what you paid for”? Yes, it applies here. Out of the five frames, there’s only two that I can pick up and not know that they were dirt cheap. The prescription itself is correct on all five pairs (side note: my optical allows me to pay $35 and they’ll check my ordered glasses to assure me that they’re correct) and I see perfectly fine.
tl;dr: Ordered cheap glasses and I’m satisfied with my purchase.
