About a year ago, I filed for ch. 7 bankruptcy, and everything was discharged.

A few days ago I went and checked my credit score, because I've been working very, very hard to rebuild my credit.

However, suddenly my score has gone down, and it shows a collection on my report. I have no other collection reports ever, and this feels like a huge blow.

The amount box is blank, and in the remarks it says "contested by bankruptcy". It says the "Assessed date" is May 2017.

I looked into it, and it is a rental I had 2 years ago. I have no idea how I supposedly owe them money. I clearly remember doing a walkthrough with the manager, and they said everything looked good and I didn't owe any money. I never received a single call or letter, and this collection never showed on my report before.

Even if I don't owe them the money due to the bankruptcy, I seriously don't want a collection on my report. I'd be happy to pay them if it would remove this from my report. Its bad enough that I had a bankruptcy, but now it shows a collection. Not to mention I'm sure this is going to make me look even less attractive for future rentals.

Is there anything I can do at this point to get it removed?

Tl;dr have discharged bankruptcy, collection from 2 years ago that I never knew about just appeared on credit report and says contested by bankruptcy, and I really want it off my report.
