Hi everyone. My first time posting here so I hope it's the right spot. My mother in law calls me yesterday and she says she got a bank statement and sees an account with a few thousand dollars in it but didn't know where it was from. I had her take a picture and send me the statement and it turns out to be an account my wife and I deposit our rainy day funds in. I had no idea why our account was there so I messaged Chase about it. A rep responded and said that it was because my wife is a cosigner in the checking account for my mother so they linked the two accounts together and that if I wanted to fix this issue, I would need to write a letter to request for the account to not be linked. We've never ask for the linkage nor did I think they would ever link my account information to my mom-in-law. Can they do that? The statement showed my transactions and account number and I feel like it violates my privacy that they shared my account information.
