So we just moved into an apartment that doesn't have a washer/dryer (but there are hook ups). I plan to be there for only one year, and then moving about an hour away. I estimate doing 2 loads per week, maybe 3 occasionally. Load of wash is $1.50, and drying is 50-75 cents per load. I'm more averse to moving these appliances in a year than doing weekly trips to the laundromat (2 miles from the apartment). Buying brand new appliances would be easy, but I want the challenge of trying to do this as frugally as possible. I've even considered a small, portable, top-loading washer and then air drying in the basement with a fan. What are your thoughts? (I'm writing this as I'm sitting at the laundromat, ha.)
