Hi reddit! I need some help figuring out how to repaint a dresser and drawers I found at Goodwill. I thought they would be great storage for my college apartment (I have lots of clothes) and if I anchored it to the wall, I could put my 5gal fish tank on it. Here is a link to my dresser (please excuse all my stuff). As you can see, its been painted several times and its chipping off at some places http://ift.tt/2tQ6DwG, I've been reading about how to do this but I'm still confused. I like to list out all the steps I'm doing before I proceed to make sure I'm doing everything right. I get very anxious if I don't get reassurance on a project as I am afraid I'll mess it up. Please let me know and give me feedback! I'm using these two websites as references: http://ift.tt/2u5C8hj and http://ift.tt/2tPI8zQ loose paint with a scraperSand the entire chair with a palm sander to even out the surface. First sand the entire chair with 80- to 100-grit sandpaper. Then switch to a finer sandpaper between 150- to 200-grit to get a really smooth surface (my dad owns an orbital sander)Apply primer, and sand again with a fine sandpaper if neededApply three coats. Do I need to lightly sand after each one?Add a clear protective coat and let dry for 24 hours via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2vQnc8Y
