Greetings everyone,
I have just recently completed my CFA level 3 examination and finally felt confident to put some of my modest savings into the once mysterious U.S Stock Market.
In my country, the Banks charge unbelievable fees for exposure to the U.S Market (~$22 per trade), which completely wipes out any returns I may forecast either as a value investor or as a trader.
We do not really have any other alternative for pity investors with pity amounts like my savings (<$10,000).
I began exploring online trading platforms as an alternative to the local banks . Nonetheless, I became even more confused and extremely lost in my decision to identify the best broker that best suit my needs.
Ideally, I want to own exposure to the market as a whole through ETFs, while at the same time play with some stocks for gains through active management (Few trades per month). But mostly, I will be implementing a set-it and forget it strategy. My exit would probably be after 5-7 years unless a better opportunity arises and I would have to cash out.
What I'm looking for is an online broker that: - Reputable Institution (Safety First) - Accepts Non-US residents with amounts less than $5,000 (Transfers in and out with minimum fees). - Lowest Cost (Minimum fees/Nothing Hidden) - Satisfies my requirements stated above
Appreciate your help and comments, and thanks for such a great website,
Your fellow investor from Bahrain.
