I consider myself an amateur when it comes to smart investing. I know the basics, and also my limitations (I think), but not too much more.
Perhaps more importantly, I love to learn from mistakes (mine or someone else's). I have lurked on various investing/stocks/finance subreddits for a while and I was wondering...
What is the worst investing mistake you have made? What was the fallout? What did you learn? I'm hoping to learn some juicy tidbits from others' wisdom.
Personally, my worst mistake so far has been not jumping on the bull market in the early years (2010-2011). I had just started full time employment after school during the 2008 crisis. I saw many folks get burnt, lose their houses, worry about the futures of their families, etc. So I held off. I'm reminded of Warren Buffet's "Be greedy when others are fearful, and fearful when others are greedy". Had I invested my meager savings early during this bull run, I would have made a decent amount on it by now. I got on to the bull train too late.
