I have this idea and basically I need a sounding board of people smarter then me to see if it's feasible.
Basically, I have about 35 years till retirement. In addition to my 401k and whatever I might get from social security I'd like to create a portfolio of stocks that primarily pay out dividends monthly but some quarterly would be okay also. I don't really expect to get rich off this just live a little more comfortably. Also I do realize I'd have to pay capital gains on anything I made.
The plan would be to continually hold any stocks I buy (unless it seriously starts to tank or it gets rid of its dividend) and reinvest any dividends made over the years.
So while I realize I'm probably vastly oversimplifying things I'd like to hear from people if this is at least doable?
If it is could anyone suggest some month dividend stocks they like for me to look at?
