I've been playing in the stock market for almost a year now. Despite losing more than I gained I saved more money than I would have if I had not had a purpose for the money. I am a 25 year old married male with a comfortably paying job and roughly $6k in debt. Last year my "classic" JDM car blew it's motor up and I suddenly incurred a $3k debt to a shady "no credit needed" lender. After a year of paying 37% interest I started to reevaluate my decision to use extra money to essentially gamble in the stock market while I attempted to learn trading strategies. In doing so I was able to save around $5k with motivating myself to be frugal so I could have more money to risk. I reviewed the terms of my loans and decided I would rather be debt free than investing, at least for the short term. So basically I went liquid in the market, paid off my loan, http://ift.tt/2rcqZdj, and used the rest to pay my credit cards to almost zero. With just a few remaining accounts valuing under $1k I'm looking forward to not chasing my tail with interest and not knowing where my money is going.

Just wanted to thank you guys, I'm not a very active member of this subreddit but after reading countless times "BE DEBT FREE BEFORE INVESTING" it finally clicked with me

Here's to not putting myself into another shitty financial situation, cheers
