Hi everyone. I'm hoping it's okay to post this here. I did a bunch of searching and couldn't really find a more appropriate place, though I did post in r/construction but I'm worried they'll remove it. I also did a ton of research but the answers aren't really clear. Please help if you can. I'm hoping for professional opinions with knowledge backing them up. Anyway, on to it.We made the mistake of hiring a family friend to install a sink. It didn't fit, so he decided to cut (grind) the granite in place in the kitchen. There is dust everywhere. We should not have trusted him to do this job (mistake). We had no idea of the dangers of this job (mistake). He is not licensed/bonded/insured (mistake). We were in the house for about an hour while he was cutting no masks on. Switched to N95 masks for the remaining few hours, then when he was done we realized just how bad it was and realized we needed to pack up what we could and get out of the house. We've rented an air scrubber and are running it nonstop until Servpro can come assess on Monday, and are staying with friends. My question to you is... How much exposure is too much? I called poison control and they said we'd probably be fine, but then you look online and it says breathing it in once is enough to ultimately cause silicon is (which eventually kills you) or lung cancer. We don't have any construction professionals to contact and we've called some granite companies and nobody will help us. Should we be concerned or is it okay? Did we just completely ruin our house and all our belongings? Please help. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2sdznNy
