I had a 98 Pathfinder and my head gasket blew this weekend. Thankfully I have roadside assistance on my insurance and they got me home without too much out of pocket. I was quite a ways away from home when this happened.
I've got a budget of about $5k or less, would like to find a nice SUV w/ 4-wheel drive. I'm looking for something that will have a long life engine/transmission wise.
I've narrowed my options down to the following:
1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee (w/ in-line 6 engine) 1999 or newer Toyota 4-runner, Nissan Pathfinder, or Honda Passport.
Any other suggestions? I'm not a car guy so I don't really know what to look for when I 'kick the tires'.
