Yes, I searched. Only result I got was This thread which is archived and was submitted 5 years ago.
Wondering if anything has changed in the last 5 years since that thread was submitted. Last year I bought a home that had some flood damage to the basement due to heavy rain in 2013. Previous homeowners (not sure if it was the guy we bought from or the person that owned it in 2013) put a second sump in, last week the aluminum housing on one of those pumps decided to corrode badly and let go, so I'm suddenly in the market for a new one.
I'm leery of plastic but I'm guessing the water PH is on the basic side since it ate the aluminum away on that pump. Guessing cast iron may be a better choice. Water smells pretty anaerobic - wondering if adding a small aquarium pump and bubbler wouldn't prolong the life of a pump in such a setting and/or make the basement smell better. Anything else I should be concerned about?
