We currently own a Sleep Number bed and I hate it. I have no practical use for it, a normal bed served me well all my life, and this thing has caused more problems than any potential pluses we might stand to gain. One side is deflating at a rate only noticeable once your back is cramped, and the cover is almost totally in tatters. In-laws gave it to us, didn't really mention any of this...
I don't know if anything exists that meets my needs but I always find it more beneficial to ask than to assume. We already have a king sized frame and platform so I suppose we just need a mattress? The thing is, part of our problem is our pets - while I would like to keep their interaction with our bed at a minimum, that's hard to ensure 100% of the time. The "this is fucking it, I've had it" moment for the Sleep Number bed came today when, at 9:00pm, I came upstairs to relax before bed and found a big heaping fucking pile of wet cat vomit. Now the SN cover is unwashable for two reasons - the average human does not have a washing machine that goddamn big, it requires an industrial sized washing machine and at least $10 in change, and two, it's falling apart after 2 years of ownership (plus however long my in-laws had it). Replacing it would cost more than I could probably sell this damn bed for.
Has anyone, anywhere found a way, a bed, a product, anything for the person whose cat finds its way into your room to puke on your side of the bed or whose dog takes a nap next to you and pees in his sleep? I keep finding washable pet beds but what I need is a washable or puke-resistant human bed... My current setup soaks in all the piss and puke juice like a sponge. I just want something durable.
