ALBUM: http://ift.tt/2sRbuJH the text says- I'm remodeling our kitchen. Demo day is done, and low and behold I have a rotting support post. My house has 3 main beams that support the roofline, so not your traditional rafter set up.One of the beams runs over the kitchen and the support beam, which is part of the exterior wall is rotten in the bottom. I need to replace it, and part of the sill plate as well.I'm very handy, but there are some major structural elements at play here, so I want to be safe/smart. is the process just building a temporary wall along the main beam, then cutting out the rotten portion of the post, and installing a new post portion and sill plate? The main beam span across the kitchen to the support post- that span is at least 20 feet. Probably 25.Any thoughts? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2sRqHL2
