Without getting into too many details, a house I now own was flooded around 5 years ago. It was also a hoarder's home. The basement got the brunt of it, the first floor isn't so bad, and the 2nd floor isn't bad at all.I need to fix the water pipes in the basement first, so the basement will be my first job. My issue is there's a ton of stuff - not garbage, but household stuff. Piles of clothes that are damp, piles of papers and books, etc. And mold.Me and my friends are going to start tackling this next week. So my question is: How do I prepare? So far, I got a shop vac for the loose materials, a large construction fan to move air throughout, mold masks and gloves to protect us. Should I rent a large dehumidifier? My goal is to make it safer and more comfortable for us to clear out, while also leading up to the point where we eventually have to renovate the basement. First step is clearing it out though. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2rVoVHM
