Backstory
I recently went to the ER; My mother who was with me, works at the hospital and knew everyone personally. $700 of the bill was for the Dr visiting my room, but he actually 100% never did, it was his PA that took care of me the entire time. So she has been disputing that charge.
I'm <26 so still on her insurance, but the bill came to her house and was under my name. I had no idea the bill was under my name, or that it was going to collections because I moved to another state and haven't been home recently, and she was taking care of it.
I just checked my credit score and it dropped from 759 to 640 ! What the actual fuck. I'm really worried because I am planning to buy my first house in the next 6 months, and am in the process of starting my own business which I will want a business loan and line of credit for within the next <2 years.
Questions
- How is this drop in my score going to affect me?
- I paid the bill immediately this morning once I figured out what had happened; I'm assuming this won't magically make my score go back up to 759 that it previously was?
- Is there any way I can dispute/remove the collection from my credit and have my score repaired to what it previously was?
