I went to physical therapy 2 months back. When I walked in for my appointment, the first thing I did was check with the administrator that I was covered by my insurance. She took my card, called, and verified that I was; however I was responsible for a $50 copay (high, I know). Oh well, I paid it, and did so each of the following 5 appointments.

After 6 weeks, I was healed, PT cleared me, great, I made no more appointments with $300 less in my bank account. Just yesterday I received an invoice for $1,400 from the physical therapy office claiming my insurance doesn't cover anything I'm responsible for the remaining bill ($1,700-$300 copay).

I called my ins. company and they told me I was never covered since the provider is out-of-network. What recourse do I have now? PT office isn't open until Monday but I just want to see if something like this has happened to anyone else!
