Hi Guys,

I've been working at this company (in Massachusetts) for about 3.5 years and recently moved to a neighboring state several hours away (New York) such that I cannot commute daily. I was in the middle of a big project where I am the expert, so they agreed to let me work remotely (they didn't really have many options).

Project has had significant delays, mainly due to issues with the customer. This project has also been a huge time suck and basically the only major project I've been working on so it has really cut into my yearly revenue generation for the company (and thus value).

Just had my yearly performance review and my manager stated he is uncertain that I am providing sufficient value to the company and hinted that I have been less productive since being remote (because I was not being given any other projects to work on...)

He then said for tomorrow I should create a plan and give him a date (hinted at July/Aug) on when we will have an "amicable separation".

So I think he asked me to resign.

What do I do? Obviously, start looking for a new job , but what do I say tomorrow?

I think if I voluntarily resign, that may disqualify me from unemployment benefits which I would need if I am not able to find a job quickly.

Thanks for your help!
