Hello reddit, yesterday I was contacted via text that my resume was forwarded (my resume is available online so that's not a stretch) to this guy's department and he wanted to set up an online interview with this other guy.
Within 15 minutes I was talking to someone on google hangouts and the interview had begun. It seemed legit, he gave me a brief history of the company, what they were looking for, and an overview of the duties/responsibilities. After that he asked me a series of simple questions, and then received my "score" within 15 minutes of my final answer.
Apparently I was deemed a good fit and offered a position right there, within 30 minutes of texting. Heres where it gets very fishy. They sent me a check for $1900, and a VERY generic letter in order to purchase the software necessary to complete the job. I've read up on check scams, but he wants me to use the money for myself so I don't know where the scam would come in.
Sorry for the long winded overview, but now I'm lying in bed with a check for $1959.99, and i have no idea what to do.
