My mom(62 next month, needs knee surgery from accident in average to poor health no currently working) is getting a roughly $250,000.00 settlement from an accident, shes always been a waitress and has never had more then $3000 at a time and we are both HORRIBLE with money. I know she needs some sort of system to put most of her money away to live on interest but I just don't know enough or where to start to help her. My other brother is hopeless with money and quite selfish and I don't think he has her best interest at heart. Can anyone give me some reading material or advice? She will be making two large purchases a used car and undecided living arraignments (she isnt sure if she wants to buy land, a trailer or a modular home).
