My parents are close to retirement and after the 08 debacle they pulled out their investments once they had regained what they initially lost (thinking another crash was imminent). They did however almost completely miss out on the DOWs ride up past 20k.... Most of their saving are sitting in an IRA sweep acct currently being destroyed by inflation. I don't know enough to give them advice past "letting inflation destroy your savings is a BAD idea". I am also worried about them getting taken by a manager who is just looking to churn and trade their nest egg, depleting it via brokerage fees.... Can anyone give me any help in finding a honest professional (maybe fee based as opposed to commission) with a solid reputation that can help steer them in the correct direction?
Thank You very much in advance.
