I'm currently re-painting a previously unused bedroom and I'm having some issues.First is wallpaper. Most of the room was primed before papering so the several layers of painted-over paper and scraped off like butter. One wall, however, appears to have had new drywall hung before re-wallpapering the whole room, and in their wisdom the owner (or contractor) didn't feel the need to prime the drywall first. Probably 70% of this wall has cleaned up ok but the remainder is stuck fast, leaving various patches like this that just won't budge. I've tried most of the tips from my hours of googling (steam, fabric softener, vinegar, soak and let stand) but all have been fruitless, likely because they don't penetrate the paint layer. Any advice before I fire up the orbital sander (or break out the sledgehammer).Second is edge blending of paint. One wall was only partly wallpaper. The rest of that wall appears to have been the location of a closet or something, which was removed and the whole wall repainted. Now the wallpaper is gone, there's a ridge all the way round the paint-only section. I've tried smoothing a section with a sanding block which looks ok but I suspect will stand out after painting. This wall is the most visible one from the doorway and gets glancing light all day so any imperfections will stand out. There's also come paint flaking on the cove cornice that will need to be either stripped or blended. Sanding hasn't helped blend at all. Advice? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2sa5ABR
