My turtle, aptly named Donatello, was getting rather large and seems to keep outgrowing his basking area. The previous home crafted iteration can be seen hereAnd he was beginning to realize he could easy hop right off the side and out of the aquarium to an untimely end on the tile floor. So ultimately my girl's insistence for a "turtle fence" was finally heard. This, along with needing to also figure out a bigger solution for the Beast to bask on, I spied a decorative wooden crate found at the Home Depot for a modest $11. After a quick mock up, I saw the crate fit just perfectly inside the aquarium. So with just the vaguest of ideas I concocted over a few good tokes, I got to work. I pulled the slats of the front of the crate, and used the old turtle dock to make a little ramp for the guy to use. which I further enhanced with a few pieces of Bamboo and some Zip-ties to give Donnie some gription for his little claws.so with the addition of two lateral stabilizers, the Baskin' Box was born!and Now the turtleman can bask to his shell's content in the safety and style! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2sTt4yI
