So this post is regarding what card I should use to optimize reward for gas and dining out.

The story is that I had a great time using the Costco citi credit card for gas (4%) and restaurants (3%). Got a lot of cash back last year which I cashed them all out at one of the Costco stores. When it comes to these categories, It beats Citi double cash credit card which flat out gives 2% regardless of category. I do use Citi double cash for other categories however, and do use a boa AAA card for international purchases during travel (which void international transaction fee)

This year, however, I want to cancel my Costco membership (due to its increased membership fee and also doubting I would save much from buying things at Costco) but am debating whether I should keep using the Costco citi credit card (which to my understanding only required an active membership to apply, but once applied, I can keep it regardless of my Costco membership status, active or not).

Rationale is that I can always cash out points rather than spending the points directly on merchandise at Costco, and thereby out beating most rewards offered by other credit cards that so far I know exist.

What do you frugal kings think of this strategy ? Or am I not knowing say a credit card that does efficiently give out even better rewards ? Thanks!
