I saw these lamps that were made by a firm called Snarkitecture a few years ago as a limited edition. Process and Final Product I like that it has an industrial look that also has utility. After doing some research, I found what looks to be pictures from the company actually making them and figured it can't be THAT hard to do given the minimal amount of tools they used. They also used white gypsum cement.I am going to give this a go next weekend but wanted to ask for some advice. The original lamps have a bulb that can't be replaced so they used a long life LED bulb that is good for 10-15 years. (1) How would you suggest I create my version where the bulb can be changed? Should I create a placeholder for the bulb out of styrofoam during the pour that is a bit bigger than a normal bulb? (2) What type of cement should I use? Preferably something i can buy at a Home Depot. What are your thoughts on these options online USG Hydrocal® White Gypsum Cement and Dap 10310 Plaster of Paris Tub Molding Material, 8-Pound, White. (3) How much will this weigh assuming it will be 8"x8"x8" ?Thank you in advance. Any other advice would be much appreciated! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2t2Eukk
