I just bought a new property with a roof deck that i want to build into my little getaway with scenes of the city. I have a nice conversational set + pergola set up, and the only thing missing is a nice fire put.The fire pit will be gas, so i dont have to worry to much embers or anything like that, and as an added precaution i am looking for a bit higher gas pit like this one rather than the low ground ones. The issue is my roof deck is fiberglass (or rather the treated non-wood kind) i want to protect the immediate area around the fire pit from too much excessive heat. and was wondering a good way i could defuse some of the heat from the fire pit.I am not sure how much residual heat would be in the immediate area (more over if it would be hotter than 100F or so (since the summers tend to get quite hot here..and the roof is fine)I was leaning on using a grill mat like this throughout the immediate area (make it more like a rug with multiple perhaps.but i am not sure if it will do what i want it to do: absorb much heat as possible to keep the underlying roof secure.the local home depot said using stones / bricks would be a good option, but i am not sure if i can make the bricks work in terms of the "look".any suggestions? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2syO6T6
