Because I have a disability, am fully unable to work and must rely on SSDI Disability payments as my sole source of income, my income is just $750.00* per month. I survive at 74.63% of the 2017 US federal poverty line.
I have an incredibly detailed budget spreadsheet, and it includes every conceivable expense that I have each month. (In fact, I have a second spreadsheet detailing the exact monthly cost of my toiletries, based on how much of each toiletry item gets used up per month.) I live a very frugal lifestyle, and buy items cheaply whenever I'm able to! These are the things I buy from Dollar Tree. Keep in mind that each item listed only costs $1 before tax:
- body wash (12-ounce bottle of liquid body wash, White Rain brand, variety of scents available). Compare to $1.11 at Walmart.
- toothpaste (7-ounce tube, Crest brand, sensitive & enamel type). Compare to $3.46 at Walmart for 4.6 ounces.
- toothbrushes (pack of 4, no brand given, medium bristle strength). Compare to $3.67 at Walmart.
- cheap plastic combs (pack of 12, Basic Solutions brand, variety of colors in the pack). Compare to $6.49 at Walmart for 15 combs.
- bobby pins (pack of 72, Basic Solutions brand, black pack or brown pack). Compare to $1.94 at Walmart for 90 bobby pins.
- bubble mailers (pack of 2, JOT brand, 6 inches by 9 inches). Compare to $0.98 at Walmart for 1 bubble mailer.
Anyone else love Dollar Tree or similarly-themed dollar stores?
*If you stalk my posts, you'll notice I've previously mentioned my income being $755.00 per month. I wanted to clarify the discrepancy: starting in July, it is going down to $750 because I hit $2,000 in savings, which makes me ineligible for SSI. Previously I got $750 in SSDI plus $5 in SSI each month. Just the other day I reported to them when I hit the asset limit and requested that they take away the $5 of SSI.
