A friend of mine recently invested some money in a crypto currency (ethereum). He told me he made about 5x his investment over < 1 year. I'm getting very tempted to try doing the same.
I'm usually a frugal person and track all my expenses and am on path for FIRE at a young age. I'm wondering if you see cryptocurrencies as a legitimate method of investing, or is this really the same as him having won some money on roulette in Vegas and me wanting to put my money on black?
