Hey yall, I'm in the progress of getting out of the financial hole (story for another post), I did a search for appliances and didnt yield any major results, im currently working on step one, I am a automotive master technician (relevant in a minute) my current challenge is making a decision on a washer an dryer. Im looking at samsung units for the energy savings an because I have had great expierience with them in the last decade. My current options are looking on Facebook and craiglist at used units and scratch and dent units if i can find them, ranging in price from 600 to 1500 for the pair, which means setting money aside to purchase our right at once. I was approved through the power company for upto 3000 dollars in appliances with 10% down and 25% interest. The new units I feel have lower odds and cost of ownership over the next few years due to lower machine hours vs the unknown hrs on a used unit. Im good with electrical and mechanical work but have never serviced a washer and drier so i do not know parts availability or special procedures or how to access the manufacturers information on system operations. Given that what do you feel is the better option? My credit is at 545 with a lot of hard inquiries from buying a car so I am avoiding more hard inquires thus not applying for credit through retailers that sell appliances, any input is appreciated. Oh an new units get delivered so it cuts out the logistics of finding a truck an fuel to used units location (upto 150 miles).
