Hello PF,
I recently got back from a wonderful vacation in Ireland, where my girlfriend and I rented a car and traveled the countryside for nine days staying at bed and breakfasts. While I absolutely don't regret going, the total cost (air travel, food, lodging, etc) was $4400 USD for the nine days.
Now to my question- I have the vacation time and absolutely want to do another trip this year. What are some vacations we can do on a better budget? Details below:

Looking to schedule between October to December of this year

Live near NYC (budget should include travel)

~7-10 day duration

Open to different types of vacation (beach, National Park, etc)

Total cost I'd love to be less than $3k, even better if less than $2K

Hard core camping (e.g. a tent) isn't her preference.
