So before you call me a dumbass, yes, I know I'm a dumbass. I didn't do my research before I bought a car, long story short I'm now 7 months into a 3 year car lease. I make about 1200/1500 a month right now, and my car is about 500 of that. I can afford it with my current living situation and all that, I live a pretty comfortable life for what it is, but my life would improve tenfold if I could get rid of this car. I want to go back to school, and start saving my money. This car doesn't allow me to do that at all.
I know about lease swapping, no one is gonna want to take my car. I'm basically looking for another option. How bad would my credit get hit if I just forfeited the car back to the dealership? I haven't missed a payment yet and don't plan on it, but I would much rather get a used car off Craigslist or something and ride around in that. Any advice?
It's a 2017 Toyota Corolla if that helps. Thank you
