Is it worth starting a Roth IRA 10 years prior to retirement? In 2019, I'll be debt free (hopefully!) and will have an extra $800-$1,000 per month. I plan to retire from teaching (state retirement) in 2029. In retirement, I will have my state pension, income from substitute teaching, and eventually social security.
Should I start a Roth IRA in 2019? Or is there a better alternative?
