Not necessarily considering saving or income, what's your monthly budget of expenses? How low do you think expenses can go while still living a decent life? Is poverty level living doable to maximize saving, and is it worth it? Honestly I'm just curious of the opinions of those of us on r/frugal here. My expenses are as follows

  • Rent: $575 (1 bedroom in a 2 bedroom apartment)
  • Electric and Gas: $40 (estimated annual avg)
  • Laundry: $30
  • Internet: $25
  • Car maintenance: $50
  • Car Insurance $100
  • Gas and Public Transit: $75
  • Health Insurance: $218
  • Food: $173.33
  • Spending: $173.33
  • Renters Insurance: $10
  • Gym: $11
  • Total: $1,480.66

If I counted that my employer pays for $150 of my insurance it would be $1,330.66. I could also lump car maintenance in with spending to cut $50 more and cut insurance down to $75 if I went with esurance making it $1,255.66 a month or $15k a yr roughly. That's basically what a minimum wage job would pay, not counting any saving, and I live in a state where jobs tend to pay more than minimum wage even for retail. Does anyone else have lower expenses? If so, how do you personally do it? Is it worth it to you or our of necessity?
