Backstory: my friend was almost scammed today. He had made plans to meet up with this guy off Grindr last night. They had been sexting/exchanged nudes when dude tells him he's 17. My friend says no worries you can still come over but nothing sexual kind of thing. Dude never shows. Today my friend gets a call from an out of state number (South Carolina). He answers and its 'dudes dad' basically accusing him of being a sex offender for sending his under age kid nudes. Says that his kid was in a car accident on the way to his house last night and if he doesn't pay for the damages (5 k) he's going to sue him for being a child predator. My friend goes to block dude off Grindr when he sees he's online. Figures that's unlikely if he's been in a car accident and such. Looks up the number and essentially figures out its a scam that started out on straight dating sites but has recently moved to gay dating sites as well. Thought you should all know!

TL/DR: New scam on dating sites has you send nudes then person claims to be underage. You later get a call from their 'parents' threatening to charge you as a sex offender if you don't pay several thousand dollars because of some extraneous circumstance.
