We'll be moving next month, and I've been shopping around for a rental truck. Based on what I've read here, U-Haul is viewed very poorly and Penske is viewed very highly. I also wanted to get insurance due to my limited experience with moving trucks.
I've found the following:
Penske: $237 (truck) + $50 (LDW + PAI + SLI + CAI insurance)
Budget: $103 (truck) + $118 (Complete Protection Package insurance)
U-Haul: $107 (truck) + $28 (Safemove Plus insurance)
Why is there so much variance in the cost of insurance? Is this to be expected? I understand the difference in cost of the truck itself due to differences in the trucks and supply/demand. But the insurance amount for Budget is more than double compared to Penske and more than quadruple compared to U-Haul.
Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated!
