It would be something like this, not like this. The photo is very descriptive of my situation, except my house is made of bricks/concrete with thick walls and a pillar under the roof. The roof covers an area of 3x2.5 meters and it's made of clay tiles, supported by a wood structure. It's not connected to other roofs(just like the picture) and the wood structure doesn't "go into" my bedroom's walls. It's just sitting there, on top of it's base, which I will use for the deck. Because of this and since the deck will certainly be lighter than the roof, I'm guessing there would not be structural problems if I remove it. The base is made of concrete, just like the rest of the second floor of my house. If that's relevant, I don't live in the US and it never snows here. I would be the only one using this deck, not expecting more than 2,3 people at a time. I have the free time to carry this on my own, supposing it's simple. So here's the plan, which you almost certainly will talk me out of:Remove the tiles and wood structure, throw them in the backyard. Shouldn't be so hard.Clean the concrete base and install some ceramic tiles for the floor. I know how to install floors and made a walkway on my patio using similar tiles. They are very light and water-tight. Also leave a little space to make a drain for the rainwater.Install a hand-rail made of metal and/or bricks, if that's not too heavy. It would be directly on top of the walls below. After all is done, hire someone to turn my bedroom window into a door.Any suggestions? I'm really down for this, but it looks too simple to be true and I'm probably missing something. Thanks! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2qoStMe
