Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Ocean City Maryland next week. I've done enough to minimize our packing so that my wife, two kids and I can make it in my Prius. That should save us about $30 from our other vehicle.

We are staying in a hotel with my mother in-law, and by splitting the costs are getting a decent room for about $200. To save on food costs, we are bringing our George Foreman and will visit a local grocery center to get steaks/chicken/seafood and then buy frozen veggie and side bags to eat most nights. I should have room to bring our Vitamix as well for lunch smoothies. We will eat out one night.

For activities, we plan on doing a lot of hiking at the local state parks and Assateague Island. While hiking, we've allocated enough backpack space to carry 4 water bottles, 2 milk bottles, an ice pack, and a box of cliff bars, while also maintaining enough space to get a few small trinkets. We'll spend each morning at the ocean collecting shells and enjoying the sun. My wife and I plan to spend one evening at a club together for "our time." I'd like to also spend an afternoon going through historic Ocean City and finding some nice artisanal foods, wines, craft beers, etc. We also plan on going through the boardwalk at least once, from one end to the other, and that should take up most of an afternoon.

I'm looking for any advice and additional things you think I should be aware of. If I can cut further costs on food, or find additional activities that are basically free or where admission is very cheap, additional ideas of to-go lunches I can take with us on our outings, etc.

Thanks!
