I work for a small sales company (20 people) as a web/graphic designer. I'm currently on short term disability at home due to surgery and my CEO and HR want to call to talk to me. I'm confident it's about taking on more responsibility, some of which I may not want to unless I'm financially compensated. My boss that quit this morning was the Creative Director but he's also heavily involved in other areas of the company. Him leaving is a huge blow to the company and our CEO is probably freaking out a little bit.
I know I need to stand up for myself and ask for more money if more work is involved but I also don't want to fill up my plate. I was pretty content with my current routine and am a little bit afraid of change.
I forgot to mention my CEO is very hard to talk to. Imagine a person who wants to save as much money as possible in their company and squeeze every penny out of a another even if it's morally wrong. That's what I'm dealing with. If you have any advice, please help.
