Recent chem engineering (ChE) grad. 2 months ago started working at a large food company r+d facility. Got the job through a contracting agency. Basically I'm loading corn into a conveyor belt, crushing corn, drying, take moisture samples, maintenance on equipment... Stuff a high school grad could do. At least I'm working with other ChEs but feeling very underutilized and frustrated. Have been unable to find a better job in my field in the 9 mo since graduating.
So my hiring agency rep wants to meet me for dinner tonight, see how the job is going. What do I tell him? If I'm super honest does it jeapordize this job? Or my relationship with him? Advice? Also: is che just a bad field right now? Or are my expectations for a first job too high?
I'm having so Much trouble finding a che job where I'm actually.learning or doing anything interesting I'm thinking of a switching careers to CS which I already have a minor in. Idk.
