As I sit here at 3:30 in the morning in the hospital with my day old little boy sleeping in my lap, my wife snoring away in the bed next to me, I can't help but ruminate on the enormous financial responsibility I now have to take care of my family.
More than anything I needed a place to make a pledge. From this point forward I will not spend money in fleeting selfish enjoyment such as gambling, expensive booze, overpriced food delivery. I will become a financial machine, optimizing my consumer behavior to best provide for my family.
I shudder to think of the dollars I have flushed down the toilet over the last decade, year, week. It is time to get my act together.
If anyone has any advice on how to press the reset button on things I am all ears.
