My family members and I have always bought foreign cars (honda, toyota, mercedes, for decades) because they've never had reliability issues with them. They drove domestic cars until the late nineties, when they said they'd had enough.
My mother has always been given Fords as company cars (she and dad both use it because gas is free), and every last one had some major failure at or before 100k EVERY time we've had them. And they're company maintained at no cost to her, so it isn't like we've been missing professional maintenance on them.
Today, I have about 6.5 Grand as my budget for a car. Do I opt for a newer domestic or an older low end foreign for the value? (reliability is important, though I'd prefer not to have an ugly car.) I want a sedan that I can drive for Uber in, to pay itself off.
