After years of wearing Timberlands, a couple months back I bought a pair of Thorogoods after reading a bunch of threads here on boots. Turned out to be a huge mistake.
After only a few weeks the lace hooks started to pull out of the leather. I noticed when one was lost completely while hiking and my boot was suddenly looser. Others are at varying degrees of being pulled out. The backings of the hooks are just folding and crumbling. The laces are also already fraying in the middle where they meet the top eyelets.
First I sent an email explaining the situation to their customer service email address. After about a week with no response, I sent a second email this time including photos of the damage. Still no response. Then I called their customer service line. A woman answered and forwarded me to another person who didn't answer. I left a voicemail. It's been about another week with no callback.
Is this pretty standard for them? I'm really disappointed in the boots and the service from a company that everyone touts as being one of the best.
