I did everything wrong - it's a good read/listen. The first 6 months were grand but slowly the regret set in and now two years later, the cons outweigh the pro items
The quick breaks down:
**Tips for the test drive:**
Do your homework. -- yea, had an idea but no data gathered (-1)
Schedule an appointment with the car dealer. -- We were a walk-in (-1)
Make a list of the cars and features - Didn't do this either, just knew we wanted brand A, not even a model type. (-1)
Pick a day solely for test driving. -- walked in with the thought to drive away with a new car. Idea to take 24 hours didn't cross our mind (-1)
Make a checklist.-- We did have a checklist, one in our price range that was not what our other car was (-1/2)
Bring a buddy and your stuff. -- There were two of us in this case, I was the voice of reason against two people, one wanted to sell it to me and the other wanted a different vehicle. (+1)
Comfort is key. -- This was something we both had to agree on (+1)
Bring your own photocopies of your license. - This is a good idea for safety, but we didn't know it was an option (0)
Walk around the car. - The vehicle was brand new and there was always more we could have had checked or had explained to us (+1)
Check the tech. -- We just got an all manual vehicle, no worries there. (0)
What's the fuel? -- It was great for fuel economy, but it was similar to what we had before (+1)
Drive the car. -- We drove it around the side roads and the highway a teeny bit. Truly we should have driven it another day or at another location (+1)
