Over there at /r/financialindependence the lentils and beans combo has practically become a meme. But does it really save any money? Tell me how. My current food spend budget, including grocery store and eat-out, is about $5/day ($1 breakfast, $1 lunch, $3 dinner). How can lentils and beans get any cheaper than that?
