Hi everyone - first off, all the advice on this sub rocks. It's helped my husband and I a lot with a tight, one-income budget due to health issues. I've been mostly a lurker, but I realize you all probably have some pretty good advice.

We are a military family, just the two of us and our beagle. We made one DIY move last summer, but now we are facing a second one in July - moving from Michigan to Texas. The moving money in and of itself isn't an issue - the military is actually very generous and everything will be fully covered, however this provides us with a great opportunity to save some serious cash (potentially thousands).

We've already booked a moving truck in advance (26ft diesel penske for $900...FYI for anyone moving, check out penske prices first!). We will only be on the road 2/3 days and we plan on camping rather than pay for hotels (we camp often anyways).

Other than that I'm kind of lost as to how to save on other expenses - boxes, packing, organizing, etc. Any ideas on where we can get cheap boxes, even if we order online in bulk? Same with tape, etc. Other than newspapers any ideas for cheap wrapping paper to preserve dishes and breakables? We have very little stuff to begin with, but we have a TON of kitchen supplies because we cook all the time.

Also, any other general, frugal moving tips or advice??

Thank you! :)
