We have a good head-start on our retirement savings, but we're not putting away as much as I'd like to due to the age of our kids. This is mainly because my wife is only working 10-15 hours/week vs the 25-35 she normally would be.

So let's say that instead of putting away $1200/month otal into Roths and 401ks, we can only do $400/month comfortably for the next 2-5 years.

In your experience, should I be able to count on it being easier to put money away when our kids are older (leaving college costs out of the equation for now)?
