I recently bought a plug in hybrid. Could you imaging charging an EV every night and seeing your electric bills go down? Thats what I'm seeing, and hearing across the chat rooms. Also, dont be intimidated by the price of these cars, rebates can bring plug ins or plug in hybrids to half MSRP and cheaper than gas models. My utility, SDGE, has special EV rates for 12am-5 am charging of .19kwh. Put your laundry and dishes on timers and most people are actually paying less when adding an EV and switching to time of use billing. I also have all west facing solar, which is even better because between noon and 6, I'm net getting paid .49kwh. I can actually add a second (full electric this time) EV and still be very close to net zero. Bottom line= 1 car with 600+ mile range will generally need gas once a month and another will need zero- both compared to filling up every week and no additional electricity costs.
