I know you guys see these all the time but I can't express how important it is that people get themselves an emergency savings (or savings in general).
I live in Florida. It's hot. Like, walk-outside-and-immediately-start-sweating hot. So like any sane individual, I have air conditioning in my condo. The trick is, I bought this condo from a married couple who kept one of their mothers there. Besides a couple of pre-checks upon buying the condo, I didn't think the A/C was all that bad.
I was wrong.
Turns out the unit is as old as the building itself (built in 2001) and, as with most contracting business, the people who built it got the A/C units from the lowest bidder.
Now I'm looking at a price tag of about $3300 for a new unit and labor, but I can handle that thanks to savings. It kinda sucks to part ways with that money but let's be real, why suffer higher electric bills and shitty A/C when I could knock it out ASAP?
