I'm a 19[M], I live with my mother. We live in a home that is owned by her father, they have offered us discounted rent due to my mom being a disabled person. Today we had a disagreement (there's been many) and ultimately decided that we would be out of the house in 3 months. We've lived in the house for seven years, and prior to a month ago I worked for minimum wage, and my mom mainly supported us via a settlement she received from a work related injury. Now, I have accepted a new salary position at 50k/yr, but her settlement has dried up and we have no money saved.
My mom doesn't bring anything in at this point as she's waiting on Permanent Disability to get back to her. She tells me they will back pay to when she first filed which was in March 2015. We're currently in SoCal but aren't really limited to location as my job is done on the computer, although I don't really want to leave the state or anything.
I have a car loan that's at 16k right now, I would prefer to downsize but my car is only valued at 8-9k (2014 Hyundai Elantra). Other expenses include Internet, phones, and car insurance. My mom has her own vehicle that is owned and has always managed to pay her own insurance. I'm becoming the main bread winner very quickly and need some advice on the next steps I should take.
