Here is what I want to know. I read all this stuff on reddit about how solar and wind are such great investments. They tell us that wind is now CHEAPER than coal energy or similar claims like that. If this was true then why are the yield cos, which invest primarily in wind and solar assets performing so horribly? Some are down 50% over 3 years when the overall market is soaring.
Some of these yield cos I seen have more expenses than revenue and these companies are supposedly investing in "conservative" assets like wind farms. Why the hell would you buy a wind farm if it was going to have more expenses than revenue? The only thing I can make of this situation is that the operators are just using these yield cos to scam investors. The operator will build the wind farm, mark the price up and then unload the asset on to the yield co.
The only ones that I see doing good are the ones that own gas and hydro power as the majority of their generation.
The ones that are doing the worse are the solar yield cos. The wind yield cos are doing better but nothing exciting.
So what do you make of it?
